Pope Leo XIV will need no further treatment for lung cancer after final tests confirmed the disease was localized, his doctors said Wednesday.
The tumor removed Oct. 13 was a lung adenocarcinoma, Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said.
A subsequent cancer assessment confirmed that “no further treatment is necessary,” the doctors said.
The findings followed testing of the removed tumor and an additional assessment of the popes need for further care.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.Â
